What is Magic-LAN? Magic-LAN.com is the home of computer gamers in central Illinois. We are centered in Morton, but draw in gamers from many of the surrounding cities. Magic hosts semi-regular LAN events, and also provides online forums for members to discuss popular games, hardware, or whatever else is on their minds. If this is your first visit, you can find more information about or group, our events, and the forums in the links on the left. If you enjoy your visit, please create a new account and join in on the fun! Happy Gaming!
Due to an unfortunate number of scheduling conflicts among the Magic admins, we are not going to be planning a July event as we had previously hoped.
It is our tentative plan to gather a group of Magic gamers for the upcoming Showdown LAN in September, and then return to our normal every-other-month LAN schedule in November. Please stay tuned! |

| Magic LAN Upgrade! Morton Legion now has Internet! |
Just in time for our upcoming November LAN, the Morton American Legion has added a DSL connection available for our use!
This connection is a low use / low bandwidth hookup, primarily intended to allow us to solve problems. For instance, Steam will no longer be an issue, as we can now avoid hassling with the dreaded Offline Mode. Also, it will give us the ability to help people who might be missing drivers, updates or patches for their system and games.
Important: It is not intended to allow attendees to play online games during the event, nor will it let people not in attendance join in on event servers or tournaments. We expect to leave the connection open and available to all attendees during the event, but any abuse of the bandwidth that results in a detraction of performance from other attendees will be dealt with on a case by case basis. |

The popular torrent tracker site The Pirate Bay.org is trying to start their own micronation in order to get around copyright laws so they can freely share intellectual properties. Their first attempt to buy an already existing micronation, "sealand", failed and have since moved on to plan B, which is to buy their own island and start their own nation from there. As of now they have accumulated $20,000 in funds from donations.
Heres the website |

| Worlds Largest Digital Photo |
http://haltadefinizione.deagostini.it/
Gigapixel has claimed to have the largest digital photo on the Net, at 8.6 Gigapixel. It is a composite photo of the "Parete Gaudenziana," a fresco painted by Gaudenzio Ferrari, dated 1513. This fresco is in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, in the convent of Varallo Sesia, diocese of Novara and Province of Vercelli, Italy. The site uses Flash to let you explore the fresco over a zoom range of more than 180 to 1. The photo is made up of 1145 images, each 12.2 Mpixel and 16 bits per color channel.
Since there hasn't been any new news up for a while I figured I would throw this out there. |

Magic LAN member Ziptied has put together a guide that sums up the process he's used to overclock his system. He was often frustrated by the time spent researching the information about overclocking methods. He wanted to make it easier for others to get started by putting the things he'd learned together in one place. His guide sums up the step-by-step process that he has used to get the most out of the system, all wrapped up in one simple text file. Anyone who is interested in taking a look and trying his methods for themselves is welcome to grab the document from the forum.
Check out the forum thread here. |
