hmm... I will grant that changing such a staple could be viewed as sacrilege. And since I haven't tried them, I'll put my vote on hold. But *in general*, I'm sticking to the Dark>Milk stance.

Windows ME was a virus, I used Win 98 SE until XP came out and I was happy with it.

actually, 98 was fine if you didnt try to do anything out of the ordinary with it...you know, like use a peripheral, install new hardware, have a large hard drive, use a network, get an intelligent status update of the scandisk operations youre running, get an accurate cpu load report from the system monitor, keep your desktop icons where you put them and other profiles "saved" (until you boot into safe mode), shut down the OS, etc...

as long as you avoid these justifiably cumbersome tasks on your windows 98 machine, its fantastic Rolling Eyes

that said...2ply, do you still want those old hp laptop parts? ive got them, but i dont know how/when would be easiest to get them to you. best bet is to probably find some time to pick them up from me (either at work in morton or home in EP).

and yeah, ghost i prettymuch did the same path as you there...although i dabbled in ME enough to realize it was awful and only used vista for a little while because it was that or just plain dont get dx10.
