A while back, not long after we took over for the original Admins, we were trying anything possible to keep Magic LAN in the black. We created an Amazon Affiliate account, because we thought it might generate a little extra income. It didn't, so we took it off the site.
Years later, Magic LAN is still going strong. We aren't sitting on a ton of excess cash, but we won't go broke from one or two low-turnout events either. But even though the group is financially stable, we figured it couldn't hurt to re-open this forgotten avenue of possible income.
As the holidays approach, pretty much everybody is going to order something from Amazon. Why not do it in a way that puts a little money back into our community at the same time? Rather than go straight to Amazon, stop here first, click our link, and whatever purchases you make will generate commissions in support of Magic LAN. It's been a while since I've looked into the specifics, but I believe they offer better commissions if you use a link directly to a specific product, so if your purchase isn't urgent and you'd like me to generate the proper links before you buy, just let me know. |

Due to an unfortunate number of scheduling conflicts among the Magic admins, we are not going to be planning a July event as we had previously hoped.
It is our tentative plan to gather a group of Magic gamers for the upcoming Showdown LAN in September, and then return to our normal every-other-month LAN schedule in November. Please stay tuned! |

| Magic LAN Upgrade! Morton Legion now has Internet! |
Just in time for our upcoming November LAN, the Morton American Legion has added a DSL connection available for our use!
This connection is a low use / low bandwidth hookup, primarily intended to allow us to solve problems. For instance, Steam will no longer be an issue, as we can now avoid hassling with the dreaded Offline Mode. Also, it will give us the ability to help people who might be missing drivers, updates or patches for their system and games.
Important: It is not intended to allow attendees to play online games during the event, nor will it let people not in attendance join in on event servers or tournaments. We expect to leave the connection open and available to all attendees during the event, but any abuse of the bandwidth that results in a detraction of performance from other attendees will be dealt with on a case by case basis. |

| Dragon's Dome article in the Journal Star |
For those of you who weren't at Val-LAN-tine's, and as a reminder for those that were, a photographer was getting pictures of the event for an article about the types of events held at the Dragon's Dome.
UPDATE- Just picked up the paper, and there is a two page article on the Dome. It focuses on the Dome itself, the sports teams that use it, the controversial construction phase, etc. But at the bottom of the second page there is a smallish picture of our event, with the caption "Computer gaming enthusiasts battle it out in one of the Dragon's Dome conference rooms during an all-day event run by the Peoria-based Magic-Lan computer gaming club." |

| LAN Update - Energy Drinks will be on sale! |
Good news, gamers! Magic LAN will be selling 3 different energy drinks at the LAN this weekend! Not only will they keep you full of caffeine, they'll be cheaper than buying them at the store and they'll raise money for Magic!
BobSmooth was able to get us a bunch of Mountain Dew AMP, SoBe Adrenaline Rush, and SoBe No Fear. Each of those normally sell in stores for $2 a can, but we're going to be able to mark them down to 2 cans for $3 all day at the LAN, while our supply lasts! All three of them are about equal in caffeine/ounce, so feel free to grab a couple different kinds and see what you like best.
I know a lot of people were asking about buying Bawls at the last event, and while those have been donated expressly as prizes, these energy drinks all beat Bawls on caffeine content, and are a sweet deal to boot. So, skip the vending machines, and help out Magic while you get your caffeine fix. Hell, buy some extra to get you through the week. This deal is just that good. BobSmooth will have a cooler keeping them on ice and will be handling the sales. When you go to get your fix, make sure to wait until he's got some poor schmuck in his sights, then tap him on the shoulder. He loves that. |

It's been a long time since our last event, and as you may be aware, even this event nearly didn't happen. Magic's new administrators want to see the group survive, but we can't do it without your help. So, grab this flyer, and put it up at work, at school, and give it to your friends! Sign up now to get your seat, and then spread the word to help us make sure we get full attendance for this event!
Join us for 12 hours of non-stop gaming excitement! Expect to see a lot of your favorite games getting played, and hopefully some new faces as well. We're planning a lot of good excuses to give away prizes. Watch this page for updates as our plans are finalized. |

Welcome to M.A.G.I.C's brand new proposed update of the website. It's my duty to make this website for the users, something that everyone can use very easily, but also very easy for us admins to well, administer. Please email me, or post in the website feedback forum your comments and feedback. |
